We’re From Snyder County – spoof video

This has nothing to do with technology except  that this video was made on a Mac with Final Cut Pro.  It also featured a poor attempt at chroma keying, but honestly that’s really part of the videos charm.  I wanted to congratulate Jason McGuigan , the guy in the amish dress for making a lot of people laugh.  He really captures all the quirky things that make Snyder County unique.

Anyone that knows Jason will tell you this video IS him. He is playing himself. The funny lighthearted red head jumping around is the real Jason.  In middle school he was making videos that would put Jack Ass to shame. I actually think I have a few tapes of him acting “a-fool” while watching the coal drop on Christmas Eve in downtown Shamokin…

Speaking with him a few days ago about his viral video he was very surprised how popular it had become. I hope he continues to explores this creative side a bit more.  Now he needs to find a way to take advantage of his new found fame.

As funny as this video is there are people offended over it. Here is a word of advice , if you have an issue over something you feel is objectionable, the last thing you need to be doing is publishing it on the front page of the Daily Item!

It also made it to the local nightly news, Im glad to see it was a pretty fair and objective piece.

This video is funny  because its based on truth.  Snyder county and the surrounding coal regions are still living back in the early 1900’s.  If you have been to the area this video will make you laugh.  It pokes fun about all the quirky things that gives the area its hometown appeal.

I will be keeping my eye open to see what other videos he dreams up.  Enjoy the video!  It’s almost as good as BUBI!
